After a few weeks of break (sorry, too much travel and I hardly had time to get to my posts), I finally get to introduce our next #HisStyleSnaps personality, AJ Dee (aka The FiloDapper) from the Philippines. Actor by profession, he’s a father of two boys, and a celebrity style blogger with over 60k followers on Instagram. Find out through our 1-on-1 interview with AJ Dee, how he has time amidst his busy schedule to look meticulously stylish all the time.
HIS STYLE DIARY: Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.
AJ: My real name is Angel James Dee III. Hope you agree with my first name! [laughs.] Well, many of you may not know this but I’m a proud father of two wonderful boys. I love beaches as much as I love the city. I finished a degree in business management but ended up doing a different thing. My primary work is acting and when there are no projects I focus on blogging. I also workout and play sports.
HSD: What is your personal style?
AJ: My personal style would be a gentleman’s look with a playfulness on the side. A sharp and neat-looking kind of dressing up.
HSD: Who is your style icon? Someone who inspires the way you dress?
AJ: My style icons would be Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling.
HSD: Do clothes make the man, or does the man make the clothes? Why?
AJ: It’s the clothes who make the man because the way you dress says a lot of things about the man.
HSD: If you’re asked to evaluate if a man is stylish, what would be the first thing you look out for?
AJ: In my opinion, a stylish man has an eye for good mixing and matching of different elements like patterns, colors etc.
HSD: Tell us a fashion trend that you love, and one that you hate.
AJ: The fashion trend that I love would be the slim cut of suits. On the other side, I don’t like partnering basketball shoes with skinny pants. For me, I like the original purpose of it to be used for games, and not as casual wear.
HSD: What are some of the fashion brands that you wear?
AJ: Fashion brands that I wear are Bottega Venetta, Paul Smith, Christian Louboutin, Prada, Dior.
HSD: Would you rather have a great body or have an awesome wardrobe? Tell us why.
AJ: I would choose to have a great body, but also to know my own style. A good body adds a nice silhouette to the outfit. Wherever you go shopping, if you know what suits your body well, you will always come out as a winner for dressing up good.
HSD: If you can wear only one brand for the next year, which would it be? Why?
AJ: It’s a close call between H&M and Zara for the only brand to wear for the whole year.
HSD: When it comes to clothing, you should always invest in…?
AJ: You should definitely invest on a pair of good quality leather shoes.
HSD: What’s your grooming regime like, in the morning and at night?
AJ: My grooming regimen in the morning is just washing my face with a facial wash, and in the evening I add a facial toner and a facial moisturizer.
HSD: Some hairstyles take longer to do than others. What’s the maximum amount of time acceptable to you? How long does your hairstyle take?
AJ: For me the maximum amount of time acceptable when doing our hairstyle would be 20 minutes. I do it probably around 8 minutes.
HSD: How addicted are you to Instagram, from 1–10, 10 being “I can’t live without it”?
AJ: Probably my addiction to Instagram is 7 out of 10.
HSD: Can you share a style tip with our readers?
AJ: Know your identity and style, and then always rememeber to wear something that will make you feel good and confident.
