While the offerings on the catwalks of UOMO Paris Fashion Week kept close to the familiar ideals of a clean-cut, insouciantly stylish Parisian gentleman à la Alain Delon, the street style scene in the arrondissements painted a different picture. It’s almost tautological to say, but the men of Paris displayed a sharp instinct for what is and will be in vogue – jumpsuits, elongated shirts that serve as jackets, Japanese workwear, urban street-meets-sportswear, as well as the resurgence of the souvenir jacket from its murky grave.

Considering just how in tune they are, maybe it’s not the runway that’s setting trends. Au contraire mon frère, it may well be the case of leading fashion brands picking up street trends and translating them on the runway.
