Let’s face it – Milan is not the prettiest city in Italy. But boy, is there no denying that it’s a capital for menswear, both on and beyond the runway. The men outside echoed the dazzling variety seen throughout the Milan menswear shows, showing off color-blocked geometric patterns, sporty ensembles upgraded with long formal coats, and even the pyjama suits seen so frequently on the Italian runway.

While designers have tried to buck the trend of slim-cut pants in favour of flowing, loose-fitting ones, the men about town remain faithful to their tapered silhouettes, preferring excess cloth only in statement-making outerwear. But just like the runway, it seemed much more like summer than winter, what with the brilliant array of colours seen on the streets. All the better for a city known for its gloomy industrial façades.
